background

I'm currently working as senior world designer at Funcom in Montreal, Canada. I'm responsible for level design for indoor and outdoor locations as well as environment modeling, texturing and lighting .

I have been working on Age of Conan since before it launched in May '08 doing a variety of tasks including modelling & texturing assets, world design, lighting and optimisation. I also worked extensively on the expansion pack for Age of Conan - Rise of the Godslayer. I have continued to work on creating environments for content updates including the upcoming Conan the Barbarian movie tie-in content due for release in August 2011.

My work involves coordinating with the art director, story writers and gameplay designers to create both outdoor landscapes and indoor locations which visually impressive, help to tell the story and provide interesting and challenging gameplay spaces. The first step is creating a basic 'grey box' version of the location in which to test gameplay then following through with detailed modelling, texturing and lighting.

I studied 3D modeling, texturing, animation and visual effects at Think Tank in Vancouver, Canada from October 06 - September 07. My time at Think Tank was very rewarding and I wrote a review of the school, which you can read here.

Previously I have worked as a web designer, originally in London, England for 1 year then moving with the company to Sydney, Australia where I stayed for 6 years. Moving overseas to open a new office with a small team taught me a lot about project and time management and also gave me a lot of experience dealing directly with clients to identify their business needs and translate them into a functional product.

Before designing websites for a living I studied at the London College of Fashion, where I gained a 1st class degree in Menswear design. After graduating I worked as a pattern cutter for Yves Saint Laurent mens and childrens wear.

My varied professional and educational background has given me a broad range of skills and experience which I hope to continue expanding upon.
